While some people are like, “oh, its just a picture of a solar system,” others are like, “oh, wow, its so cool, I didnt know there were so many things in it!” The difference is how we relate to these things. If you think of a solar system as a bunch of planets, comets, moons, etc, then your brain is like, “oh, so that’s why there are so many things in the solar system.
Its weirdly similar to how we relate to a galaxy. If you think of a galaxy as a bunch of planets, stars, comets, etc, then you are like, yes, thats right. A galaxy is like a bunch of planets. You don’t see any of them on earth, but they are all there.
It’s not just the size, but the vastness of our universe. So if you were to think of an entire solar system (or galaxy) as a bunch of planets, comets, moons, etc, your brain would be like, oh, so thats why there are all these things. There are also the vastness of space.
With the advent of the internet and the proliferation of space-based content, this is no longer about the size of a solar system. It is about how we relate to this vastness of space. We are like a bunch of planets on a planet: we see all the planets, but we dont see all the planets. We see the planets that are close to us, but not the ones far away. We see the ones that are in our immediate proximity, but not the others.
We might think of space as a black box with a lot of data that we do not understand. However, it is actually a vast expanse of stars that we can see with our naked eye. The planets that are in our immediate proximity are the ones that are close to us because we are able to easily observe them because they are not so far away.
